Mumbai - Tata Power consumers to pay 25% more tariff

Tata Power is one of the three power distribution companies in Mumbai, the other two being BEST and Reliance Infra. All of them have to get their power tariffs approved from the regulatory commission. In a major tariff shock to residential consumers of Tata Power in the city, the state electricity regulatory commission on Saturday approved a 25% increase in tariff for the year FY14.

Centre plans to supply non-stop, costlier power for commercial users

Shopping malls, offices and other commercial consumers would be able to get electricity for 24 hours by paying a little more for grid supply instead of banking on very costly diesel generation as the government plans to help the establishment get the power that state utilities are refusing to buy.

Tata Power to invest 500 crore in Jamshedpur

Tata Power, which won the Distribution Franchisee of Jamshedpur, will invest Rs 500 crore in the Jamshedpur circle. 17 states to see power shortages this fiscal - Kerala among worst hit

As many as 17 states are expected to witness significant power supply shortages this fiscal, with Tamil Nadu projected to receive less than three-fourth of its total electricity requirements.  Among the 17 states, the worst hit would be the three Southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

CERC to hear Reliance Power petitions after June 9

Electricity regulator CERC  said it will hear the petitions filed by Reliance Power - seeking relief for increased cost of the 4,000 MW Sasan project - after the appointment of its new Chairman. The present Chairman of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission Pramod Deo will retire on June 9.
