Odisha to invest Rs 3,600 cr in power sector

In a bid to provide quality electricity to consumers and farmers, Odisha government today decided to invest Rs 3,600 crore within next four years in the power sector, official sources said.

The decision in this regard was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here. No takers for 5,000 MW power capacity: NTPC CMD

At a time when the Prime Minister's Office is busy paving the way for fuel linkage to new power projects, India's largest electricity generation company, NTPC Ltd, is claiming that capacities worth nearly 5000 MW are lying idle due to lack of demand. Solar panel scam: Left-sponsored shutdown in Kerala today

Kerala's opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) has called for a state-wide shutdown on 10-07-2013 to press its demand for resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, whom it has accused of involvement in the solar panel scam.

CCEA 'coal' nod to help CCI fast track 15 power projects

The recent decision of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to allow power projects to pass on the cost of expensive imported coal to recipients would enable quick clearance of at least nine of the 18 power projects which are coming up on 03-07-2013 for the consideration of a sub group of the Cabinet Committee on Investment.
